Mold - The Hidden Danger [Infographic]

September is Mold Awareness Month – the purpose of which is to inform, educate and raise awareness about the adverse health effects due to exposure of indoor mold. Mold can grow anywhere there is moisture, an organic food source and an ideal temperature. Mold can begin to grow as early as 24-48 hours on surfaces such as drywall, wood or insulation after becoming damp or wet.

Visible signs of mold are patches of black, white, green or gray on a variety of surfaces such as walls, flooring, ceilings etc. A musty, damp or stale odor can also be a sign that mold may be present. Physical symptoms of mold exposure can include asthma, wheezing, headaches, skin and or eye irritation and even fatigue.

For information regarding mold prevention, please see this infographic provided by ServiceMaster Restore by AAA. Keep in mind, removing mold on your own can be difficult as well as dangerous. Without the proper mold removal equipment, toxins can be released into the air, causing health problems for the occupants of the home. A mold removal specialist will be able to help prevent the recurrence of mold as well. We provide mold removal and flood damage repair in the Provo, St. George and Cedar City areas.
